When gaining a new attunement slot, the slot may become unusable if a spell is not immediately attuned. If you want to cast hexes you need both or a unique staff that appears later in the game. If you want to cast miracles you need a chime.

Firsy your going to need to level up your attunement to 10. Determines how many spells you can attune Start at 0 slots You gain one extra Attunement slot at Attunement level 10, 13, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 75 Attack Strength in Dark Souls 2.

Bountiful Sunlight, Chaos Fire Whip, Chaos Storm, Great Chaos Fireball, Soothing Sunlight, Sunlight Spear, Pursuers and Vow of Silence require two attunement slots each. Level 99 Endurance raises max stamina by 2 points Slots in Dark Souls 2.

The Darkmoon Seance Ring and White Seance Ring each grant one additional attunement slot, and can be worn simultaneously.

Also, there are items such as Amber Herbs that restore uses. There are other items that increase spell use, such as Hexers Hood. There is also a ring that grants additional spell uses, its called Northen Ritual Band.

No additional Attunement Slots are granted past 50 Attunement, capping the total number of slots at 10 (12 with both rings equipped). Leveling up the Attunement stat will give you extra spell uses. Higher numbers of attunement slots enable more magics to be cast, with attuning multiple copies of the same magic allowing for more total uses.

Each attuned magic has a limited number of uses that can be restored by resting at a bonfire. Attunement is the stat determining one's number of attunement slots available for Pyromancies, Sorceries, and Miracles.
